Yard of the Quarter Fall 2019

Kiet and Kim Arunakul 5643 Sago Palm Drive

A well-kept yard adds to the value of our neighborhood and reflects how much residents care about our community. Each quarter, Hidden Springs/Estates residents have the opportunity to nominate a fellow neighbor whose property stands out as being attractive and well-maintained. A committee of volunteers then reviews the nominations and selects a winner.

Congratulations to Kiet and Kim Arunakul for winning fall’s Yard of the Quarter. The Arunakuls were awarded a $50 gift certificate from Lowe’s thanks to John Scolaro, our Hidden Springs/Estates sponsor for the Yard of the Quarter.

Kiet and Kim met in Jacksonville, Florida. Kiet’s medical-device position prompted the move to Orlando and Hidden Springs/Estates in 2011. Kim is an assisted-living administrator. So, between the two of them, they have the 60-and-up-crowd covered!

Kiet and Kim have two children, and both attend Palm Lake Elementary. They also have a 135-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback named Hurley.

The couple have completely renovated both the inside and outside of the home. The inside was completely gutted. They had moved out of the home for a month because the renovation was extensive.

In 2011, when the Arunakuls moved into the home, the front yard was all weeds and lots of dirt. They had to rip it out, then re-landscape. Since they are a busy, young family, they decided to create an attractive, low-maintenance, water-friendly yard. They installed Zoysia grass and many drought-resistant plants such as: red Ti plants for color, Asparagus Ferns and Spider Lilies.

Thank you, Kiet and Kim, for taking such pride in home ownership.

The “Yard of the Quarter” program is sponsored by local Realtor, John Scolaro, Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, who donates a gift certificate to the winners each quarter. If you would like to nominate a yard for consideration, please email HOA@HiddenSpringsEstates.org or John@johnscolaro.com. Special thanks to Donna Fontaine for coordinating our Yard of the Quarter program.
